2008/09 NIE program highlights

Mondays -- Serial stories - historical fiction.

Starting September 8, The Liberty Pole, based on a true colonial tale from Martha's Vineyard.

Go to Mondays dropdown to download guides for serial stories and Monday series. (currently under construction - please be patient!)

Tuesdays -- USA Weekend delivered on Tuesdays to all NIE classrooms, with lesson plans on the Classroom Connections page.

Special Election Series: The Presidential Election 2008, from September 16 through October 28.

Wednesdays -- Kid Scoop for elementary age students.

Thursdays -- Our once-a-month Student Opinion Page for grades 5 through 12: send us your editorial letters, poems and cartoons.

News*pa*per in ed*u*ca*tion noun [NIE] 1: A nationwide effort to provide newspapers to teachers and students for use in classrooms as learning tools in every subject 2: An educational outreach program that offers curriculum support to teachers including curriculum guides, professional development workshops (approved by the State Department of Education), newspaper production tours, and in-school student workshops.
